LODGING & TRAVEL

Please reserve rooms at one of our official host hotels.
Mention the Mount Desert Island Marathon for special rates.

Both are located approximately very close to downtown Bar Harbor and the starting line. The Atlantic Oakes is the site of our pre-race expo (October 17th, 12:00noon-8:00pm OR 18th, 9:00am-5:00pm) where you MUST pick up your bib numbers and other registration materials. (The Acadia Inn is located across the street.)

DIRECTIONS TO BAR HARBOR:

By Road:

NORTHBOUND- From the Maine / New Hampshire border approx. 3 3/4 hr. to Bar Harbor. Take I-95 north to I-295 through Portland (The "Old Port" in Portland is a great place to stop for lunch, also a nice 3.5 mile run on gravel running path around "Baxter Blvd. / Back Bay" at Forest Ave north exit. Helps get rid of "Car Legs!") Back on I-295 north which leads back to I-95. Go north through Augusta to Bangor. Exit at I-395 east toward Brewer / Ellsworth. Exit to Route 1-A east toward Ellsworth. Straight through High Street Ellsworth to Rt. 3, Bar Harbor Road. Watch for signs for Acadia National Park. At traffic light just past bridge to Mount Desert Island bear left on Route 3 which leads straight into Bar Harbor.

SOUTHBOUND- From Houlton Maine / New Brunswick Canada border approx. 3 hr. to Bar Harbor. Take Interstate 95 south to Bangor exit at I -395 east toward Brewer / Ellsworth. Exit to Route 1-A east toward Ellsworth. Straight through High Street Ellsworth to Rt. 3 Bar Harbor Road. Watch for signs for Acadia National Park. We recommend Concord Trailways from Boston, MA and Portland, ME. They show movies and are very clean and comfortable. You'll have to connect in Bangor to get to Bar Harbor. Click here for Concord Trailways.
