At the Mount Desert Island Marathon, we are proud to offer a walker-friendly foot-race in addition to our traditional race.
Walkers begin their race at 7:00am to allow them a head-start and more daylight hours on the course.
By starting an hour before the runners, walkers may also take advantage of the course support.
There is no time limit for anyone to complete the 26.2 miles and we have always taken great pride in the fact that as long as someone is still on the course,
we will be waiting to congratulate them at the finish line.
There are port-a-johns on the course and at the start and finish.
In emergency situations there are plenty of woods as well.
